Passavamo sulla terra leggeri
“We passed over the earth lightly” is a body of work made in collaboration with musician Emrays77.
The title is a reference and an homage to Sergio Atzeni’s novel “Passavamo sulla terra leggeri” published posthumously in 1996, which deals with the historical and mythical roots of the land of Sardinia.
Unlike the ‘dancers of the stars’, the first men and women who arrived on the island from the sea bringing with them the ‘sacred dance’, today’s human beings do not pass over the earth lightly.
The project is a reflection on the relationship we have with nature, the place that we take in it, the traces that we leave on it; also: the mystery we find in it. Landscape photos are intertwined with images of my own daughter growing up, leading to a reflection on the responsibility I must assume in having already left a trace of myself that will outlive me.
Atzeni’s tale is also an initiatory journey often shrouded in mystery; thus, guided by the enigmatic music of Emrays77, the photographic narration is a dreamlike journey through images that connect distant places and moments, constantly hovering between stillness and disquiet.
Passavamo sulla terra leggeri is a video by Caterina Sansone and Emrays77, Year: 2025, length: 12m28s.
