About

Caterina Sansone was born in Florence in 1981.
In 2005 she graduated in Bologna with a thesis about the work of  photographer Francesca Woodman. In 2006 she moved to Paris. After working at the Magnum Photos agency and as an assistant, she has been a freelance photographer since 2008.
Palacinche: storia di un’esule fiumana made in collaboration with comic artist Alessandro Tota, is her first book published in Italy, France and Germany. Palacinche has also been exhibited at Spazio Labò in Bologna in 2011 and at Palazzo Incontro in Rome in 2012. Extracts from the book were presented in the exhibition Albums, at the Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration in Paris in 2013.
From 2018 to 2022 she has been the official photographer for the festival Italissimo, and for Dolce Vita sur Seine in 2022.
For some of her images Caterina is represented by the agency Plainpicture.
Since January 2020, Caterina has been self-publishing photozines and photobooks, available in some independent bookshops (in France and Italy) and directly from the author.
Caterina’s work focuses on intimacy, the visual poetry of the everyday, and female identity.
Caterina is also a librarian and currently lives and works between Bologna and Florence.
